A Festive Feast

Students at St Bernadette spent a few weeks writing and drawing about Christmas traditions from around the world and their work has now been displayed on a board in the school for everyone to see.


20131213_113315This inspired students to cook a Polish Christmas Eve feast and bring it to class today! We were joined by other teachers and before eating the delicious homemade croquettes, dumplings, stew, herring and cheesecake we broke white wafers to wish each other the best for Christmas.

A Polish Christmas Tradition

Today our St Bernadette class shared Christmas traditions from different countries. Our favourite one was that “In Poland, on 24th December there must be an empty space and plate on the table for a guest who doesn’t have a home or family. So someone can knock on the door and come in and eat and celebrate with us.” We all agreed that this is what Christmas should really be about and that it would be a nice idea to invite someone to our family Christmas dinners.
