The curious incident of the dog on Battersea Park Road

Leaving St. Mary’s last Friday I stumbled across something very curious indeed. Drawings by dogs. Drawings by dogs. And I mean what I say. The exhibiton, at The Gallery on the Corner, Battersea Park Road, showcased the works of Pretzel, Ziggi, Barnacles and Daisy, to name but a few. There was even an artist in residence who I got to meet. Django, the Boxer.
How does a dog draw? Doing what they do best, eating. An oil pastel is attached to the dog’s bowl, and as they chow down they create wonderful works of art.

Who are these budding Picassos, you might ask? Well, happily they are all local residents. Residents of Battersea dogs home.
How ridiculous! I hear you cry. Well, you’d be right. But no fear, the exhibition showcased the talents of Battersea’s most creative canines, all to raise money for the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home.

If you’d like to get in touch, the organisers welcome budding doggy artists, and your dog could be showcased in the next exhibition. Check out the art or show your support at http://www.drawingsbydogs.com/Gallery.
Certainly not what I expected to stumble across leaving St. Mary’s on a Friday morning…
