Welcome to Dermot’s English For Action Marathon Blog

Four weeks and two days to go…

To raise money for English For Action, I am running the Paris Marathon on April 10th 2011. I have never run a marathon  before and with  just four weeks to go every part of my body is aching,  including joints I didn’t know I had.

We are aiming to raise £2000, which is enough to run a term  long English language course for 20 people. This would  include a forty hour English course, books for all the participants and an end of term class trip.

Our courses are different from normal ESOL courses. We base the language teaching on the needs and priorities of the group; it is not determined by the teachers or managers, but negotiated between the learners. We also support the learners to make positive changes in their lives and in their communities. Our courses are also free to all participants and everybody is welcome, irrespective of immigration or employment status. This is made possible by the generous donations of our supporters.
